Pitch Perfect 2 – Movie Review

Hey Everyone, time for the next movie review post. Few days ago I posted about Pitch Perfect, this time its about Pitch Perfect 2.

So in case you missed the previous post or are not aware, Pitch Perfect is an American Musical, starring Anna Kendrick as Beca Mitchell, Skylar Astin as Jesse Swanson, Brittany Snow as Chloe Beale, Anna Camp as Aubrey Posen, Hailee Steinfield as Emily Junk, Rebel Wilson as Patricia ‘Fat’ Amy, Alexis Knapp as Stacey Conrad, Esther Dean as Cynthia Rose, Hana Mae Lee as Lilly Onakuramara, Shelley Raener as Ashley, Kelley Alice Jakle as Jessica.

So 3 years after winning the ICCA, the Barden Bellas is now led by Beca Mitchell, and three time super senior Chloe Beale. (What?! So it turns out Chloe was too upset to leave the Bellas so she intentionally failed to remain one.) In one of their recent performances for President’s birthday, the Bellas were publicly humiliated when a wardrobe malfunction cause Fat Amy to expose her crotch in front of President.  This lead to the Bellas’ suspension from the ICCAs. Beca makes a deal to allow the Bellas to be reinstated should they win the World Championship of a cappella.

Freshman, Emily Junk, joins the college and dreams to be a Bella jut like her mother Katherine Junk. When she realises that Bella’s are not up for auditions, she goes to their sorority house and sings her unfinished song, Flashlight.

At a car show, Bella’s witness the German group, Das Sound Machine, who has replaced them for the victory tour. The group is lead by intimidating duo Pieter Krämer and Kommissar. Later they were invited at a riff off but they lose to DSM, at end when nervouse Emily sings her original song instead of a 90’s Hip Hop Jamz.

The next day, Bella’s are at a show where their chances of winning end in disaster when Cynthia Rose’s hair catch fire due to pyrotechnics. Chloe decides to take the Bellas on a retreat led by former leader Aubrey Posen.

After the Bella’s finally graduate, they move to Copenhagen for the World’s, along with Jesse and Benji. For their final performance they sing a mashup of Run the World (Girls) by Beyoncé, Where Them Girls At by David Guetta (feat. Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj), Lady Marmalade by Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mýa & P!nk, We Belong by Pat Benatar, Timber by Pitbull (feat. Kesha) and Flashlight by Jessie J.

The Bella’s win the World’s.  As the senior Bellas leave Barden, they give Emily a belated proper initiation with Fat Amy showing her how to do the last tradition: christening the house by sliding down the staircase.

REVIEW- So, the movie is different from the first part, but personally I find it more interesting. The movie is full of fun gags, sarcastic comments and the moments when Bella’s embarrass themselves. I find the riff off better than first one maybe because it has the songs that I have heard, mostly. I’ve never heard Beyonce, Lady gaga, and all.

Talking about the final performance….DUDE! It’s amazing! I just absolutely love it, especially when all the Bella’s right from beginning come and join the stage, its just so alluring!

My Rating – 4.5/5

So that’s all for today, Thank you for patiently reading this. 🙂
