Hey everyone! Welcome to floral weekends. For those who don’t know, this is a segment started by me where I write about some beautiful and strange flowers from all around the world. If you also wanna be a part of this, pingback to my blog and use the tag #floralweekends. This way we can enjoy a number of beautiful flowers.
So in today’s floral weekend, I have a very interesting flower for you all. Its Youtan Poluo. This flower doesn’t have any scientific name, as a matter of fact, its existence for considered a myth for long until one day a Chinese farmer called Mr Ding found examples of these tiny, white flowers, which measure no more than 1mm in length. The flowers are mentioned in Buddhist scripture but only bloom once every 3000 years, so you have to be very lucky to see them. One of the recent sightings of the flower in the year 2010 was reported by a Chinese nun in Jiangxi province. Miao Wei found these white flowers growing under the washing machine during cleaning. At first she thought them to be the eggs of lacewings but by the next day, she claimed that flowers were bloomed and fragrant. The local name of the flower is Udumbara, which means an auspicious flower, blooming from heaven (in Sanskrit). This flower is so rare and mythical, that not much is known about it. In fact nothing is known about it.
Even though the information about it is not much, I’m entranced by the tiniest beauty of this flower. How can such a small and tiny thing be into existence? Its beautiful!
Let me know what you think?
